Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to get my SSN Done. I'm on a dependent H4 Visa and have my H1 approval .
I visited the SSN office with My I797, State ID and Passport : SSN officer straightforwardly rejected as I dont have my EAD card.
The Officer asked me to visit USCIS office to apply for EAD.
Please help me with this situation..Does a H1 get an EAD and then a SSN?

Sounds like someone at SSN office who may not know much about immigration.
If your I 797 came with attached I94, then you certainly can apply for SSN card. Just ask for supervisor at the SS office and talk to them.
If your I 797 does not have attached I 94 (meaning that you are still in H4 status), then I do not know for sure what the procedure would be to apply for SS card.

I like. The varying tones are very interesting. I'm sure the black and white version looks better than the color.
The color version is very dull, so I tried desaturating and bumping the contrast quite a bit. I haven't done much B&W so it's a bit of trial and error but I think B&W might suit this type of graphic picture.

What if I only complain about recent unpaid period when I was in even in project. They dint pay any thing on March 15th and dont want to pay on March 31st. They only want to pay in April. Whats your suggestion?

Regardless of the period, you need to complain to DOL. DOL takes action against them. Again, it doesn't matter if you are on project or not. They must pay you all the time.

Howdy fellow Aliens,
My wife's EAD just got approved. Now I have to get her a SSN so she can start working part time. Firstly I should ask can she get a SSN provided her I-485 application is filed and she has a valid EAD ? Any idea how long it takes to get the dang SSN ? I appreciate your help as always.

It is difficult to get H1b without client letter. Also many consulting companies stopped H1b because of RFE and denials. It is a good idea to try job to 2 to 4 more weeks.
Sorry to know about your layoff. What I would suggest is try to get a Consulting company ( maybe desi ) to transfer your H1. That would give you some leeway to find a project again.

Go for consulting job where you can stick to one company and continue your gc process. You will get better paid, you will meet more people, you will learn more and once you get green card you will have options to choose from the contacts.

People come to IV because they think that there are some good people who would suggest and help.
And please remember one thing, if you are in a hurry and dont have time. you would not think about browing or searching, but post your quesiton. And who knows he might have even done his browsing and asking for experts opinion.
And IV is an org and it at their wish and will of individual whether to contribute or not.
so please do not force any one.

Should we wait until my PD becomes current, to try to link our aplications? Is that necessary? Is there any danger that my husband's 485 application might get lost if USCIS denies our request to link his case to mine now since my PD is not current?

I need some serious help with my D50 equipment. I have no experience at all with SLR cameras, and have recently bought a bundle consisting of a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S Dxlens. Now I am interested in buying another lens (The Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Zoom Lens) in hope that these two lenses would suit my needs in amateur photography. I intend to photo landscapes, portraits and some ''macro'' (flowers and some insects). So, I would like to know if these lenses are an acceptable choice, having in mind that I can't afford to buy some expensive lenses, as my average monthly salary almost amounts to the price of these cheap ones. Hey, thanks for the feedback and clarifications. Good to know that my EB2 will not affect the existing EB3. Yeah, I agree things are kind of grey when it comes to using the on-the-job work experience. I guess it depends on individual circumstances and there is no certainity about what will apply where.
It would be really nice if the USCIS publishes some clear written material on these rules and regulations, like a FAQs that answers the most nagging questions someone has about Employment Based immigration. Does something like that exist? Does anyone know?

Another bummer, of course, is that without GC you will be charged "out of state" tuition no matter how long you have lived in that state, except California and Texas, where, as far as I know, even illegals can get "in-state" tuition.:cool:

My 6 years + recapture time will end in April/May 2011. I am just frustrated with the process.
